SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian national team striker Ole Romeny explained the meaning of the goal celebration he did in Indonesia's match against Bahrain at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/25).

“The celebration is about always keeping your head up, always working hard, and this is also a message for Indonesian young people and everyone, when we are in a difficult situation, we must keep our heads up,” Romeny said at a press conference after the match, reported by Antara.

Ole Romeny became the savior of the Indonesian national team after scoring a goal that brought Indonesia to win until the end of the match in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification match against Bahrain.

The match was won by Indonesia with a score of 1-0 due to Romeny's goal. In the previous match against Australia, Indonesia suffered a 1-5 defeat, but Romeny also scored in that match.

On that occasion, he also said that the goals scored were often dedicated to his grandmother.

Romeny is known to have Indonesian blood from his grandmother who comes from Medan, North Sumatra.

“I always tell my mother, I dedicate every goal I score to my grandmother, but for now, I'm happy because my goals can contribute to the country,” said the 24-year-old.

“There are those who are happy, delighted, and crying because of my goal. So I also dedicate this goal to the people of Indonesia,” he continued.

Meanwhile, before scoring against Bahrain, Romeny was seen delaying his movement for a second.

At that moment, it turned out to make him hesitate for a moment to shoot or gouge the ball.

“I didn't have much time, but I did have time to think whether I gouged the ball or what. But the point is I rely on instinct to score goals,” concluded Romeny.

Currently, Indonesia's national team is in fourth place in the Group C standings with nine points after playing eight matches.

Indonesia are four points behind second-placed Australia and three points ahead of fifth and sixth-placed Bahrain and China.
