Calvin Verdonk: Indonesia Can Win Against Bahrain

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian national team defender Calvin Verdonk is optimistic that his team can win against Bahrain in the continuation of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, third round of the Asian zone, Tuesday (25/3/2025) tomorrow at Gelora Bung Karno.
"Let's hope for a better result against Bahrain," he said after training at the Madya Stadium, as quoted on the official PSSI website.
The Indonesian national team was just beaten 1-5 by Australia on Thursday (20/3/2025) in Sydney. As a result, Verdonk et al.'s position in the Group C standings dropped to 4th place with six points.
This makes the Garuda Team potentially fail to advance to the next phase and qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.
Verdonk assessed that the Indonesian national team actually played well against Australia.
"I think we started well in Australia. We had total control in the match. Because we made our own mistakes, they won," said Verdonk.
He added, in the match against Bahrain the Indonesian national team must make maximum use of dead balls.
"We must be better in set-pieces. This is also related to the attitude we show in set-pieces. If we can win duels in set-pieces, our enemies cannot win. So we must be better in set-pieces," added the player from NEC Nijmegen.
