PSSI Fires Indonesian U20 National Team Coach Indra Sjafri

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PSSI officially relieved Indonesia U20 national team coach Indra Sjafri of his duties, Sunday (2/23). This decision came after the 62-year-old coach failed to achieve the target at the U20 Asian Cup 2025.
"After we at PSSI, both me, the Deputy Chairperson, and the Exco held an evaluation, we decided to release Coach Indra Sjafri as head coach of the U-20 national team," said PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, quoted from the official PSSI website.
Erick revealed that PSSI will immediately look for Indra Sjafri's replacement so that the Indonesian youth football coaching program that has been running in the last two years can continue. This is done in order to prepare them as senior national team players in the future.
Coach Indra failed to fulfill his target to bring the Indonesian U20 national team to the Asian Cup semifinals. Indonesia finished third in the group C standings after being defeated by Iran and Uzbekistan, and drew with Yemen.
