BRI Liga 1: Ryo Matsumura Leads Persija to a 2-1 Victory Over Persis Solo

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Ryo Matsumura became the star of Persija Jakarta in their 2-1 victory over Persis Solo at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday (August/24/2024). This match was part of the third week of the 2024/25 BRI Liga 1 season, where Ryo's two goals secured the win for the "Kemayoran Tigers."
In the early stages of the match, Persija struggled to break through Persis Solo's solid defense, resulting in a goalless first half. "We had some difficulty creating chances," Ryo said after the match.
In the second half, Persija increased their attacking intensity, despite initially falling behind 0-1 due to a penalty goal by Moussa Sidibe in the 56th minute. However, Persija managed to rally, with Ryo scoring two goals in the 62nd and 75th minutes. "We showed great mentality until the end of the match, and we deserved the three points," Ryo added.
Reported from Liga Indonesia baru. Persija's coach, Carlos Pena, praised Ryo's performance, highlighting his ability to recover after a tough first half. "The first half was intense and difficult, and he (Ryo) struggled to get the ball, but faced tight pressure," said Pena. He also appreciated Ryo's hard work in scoring the two crucial goals that secured the victory.
This victory marks Persija's second win in the first three matches of the season, following a 3-0 win over PS Barito Putera and a 0-0 draw against Persita. This result strengthens Persija's position at the top of the provisional standings.
