SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi became The World's Best Female Volleyball Player in 2025 according to Volleybox.

The volleyball athlete from Jember, East Java managed to achieve 80.00 points ahead of other well-known volleyball athletes such as Paula Salinas from Chile and Tatsiana Kholand from Belarus.

This achievement further strengthens Megawati's position as one of the best volleyball players in the world, showing that Indonesian volleyball has the capability to compete at the international level.

She has previously won various prestigious awards, such as the best volleyball player at the ASEAN Grand Prix 2022 and the AVC Women Challenge Cup 2023.

Now, Megawati is continuing her brilliant career in the South Korean Volleyball League, joining the Red Sparks team as an opposite hitter.

Megawati herself started her journey in volleyball since she was in junior high school. She continued to hone her skills until she joined various local clubs in Jember.

She then began her career in volleyball at the age of 14 by starting her professional career in the 2015 Premier Division Livoli with Surabaya Bank Jatim.

After that, she joined several clubs in Proliga Indonesia, such as Jakarta Pertamina Fastron and Jakarta BNI 46, and Bandung BJB Tandamata.

Mid-2023 was the peak of Megawati's career as she was recruited by South Korean club, Red Sparks. She led the Red Sparks to the playoffs for the first time in seven years and ended up in third place at the end of the season.

Megawati then returned to Indonesia to play for Jakarta BIN and won the 2024 Proliga title.

Based on various sources, Megawati returned to play for Red Sparks for the 2024/2025 season, further showing her quality as a world-class volleyball player.

After representing Red Sparks in the Korean volleyball league which ended in April 2025, Megawati reportedly will return to Indonesia to defend one of the clubs in the 2025 Proliga.

In Volleybox's list of the world's best players, Megawati takes the top spot, while Chile's Paula Salinas is second with 67.50 points.
