SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian men's singles athlete Jonatan Christie must admit defeat to Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand) in the final round of Indonesia Masters 2025, Sunday (25/1).

Jonatan lost to the Thai representative in a final match that took place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, through a rubber game with a final score of 18-21, 21-17, 21-18.

In the first set, Christie had to lose points and fell behind 2-6 against Thailand. Slowly, Jonatan managed to reduced the gap until it was only one point difference 5-6.

Multiple of Christie's attack managed to land in the opponent's side, adding numbers for Indonesia.

Not stopping, Jonathan continued to gain scores which made the position turned 10-9 for Indonesia. Jonatan managed to close the interval 11-9.

After the break, opponent's shot from Jonathan's attacks landed out of the court, adding to Indonesia's tally

Christie, the Indonesia's third seed of the tournament manage to lead to 16-11. Mistakes from the opponent continued to add to Indonesia's leading score.

Despite some points scored by the Thai player, Christie still able to lead for Indonesia 19-14. Towards the end of the first set, there were only two-points gap, 20-18, making the match even more tense.

However, Christie managed to close the first set with a 21-18 victory.

The second game begun with both players played evenly, unfortunately Christie had to fall behind 3-7. He then tried to reduce the score's difference. However, the Thai representative managed to close the interval 11-7.

After the break, Christie is still behind and had not been able to turn things around.

Although Christie had manage to land some shots, but the solid Thai representative's game in the second set left Christie unable to catch up. Christie was left behind 14-18.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn then able to close the second set with 21-17 score, so the match continued to the third set.

In this deciding set, the match got even more fierce and tense. Unfortunately Christie had to fall behind 4-7 at the beginning.

Several of Christie's shot landed outside the court and caught the net, adding numbers for his opponent. Until the interval, Christie was left behind 6-11.

After the break, Christie had not been able to turn things around and fell further behind 8-14. In the midst of the tension, Christie added four points so that the score became 12-14.

However, this still did not give Christie advantages. Thai player still lead with a huge margin.

Unable to suppress the pressure, Christie was left behind 16-20. The Thai representative's attack that Jonatan was unable to stop made the match end 21-18.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn managed to lock in the victory with a final score of 18-21, 21-17, 21-18. Christie had to be satisfied with being the runner up of the Indonesia Masters 2025.
