SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong assessed that the players had a winning mentality after successfully draw with Australia goalless in the second match of Group C of the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the Asian zone which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/9).

"Mentality is one of the factors we were able to achieve that result," Shin said in the post-match press conference at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), as quoted by Antara.

The South Korean coach, saw the high performance of his foster children so that they were able to carry out instructions well while on the field even though the match against Australia was so difficult.

This makes Shin Tae-yong even more optimistic that the Garuda squad will continue to develop into stronger matches.

"Australia almost always attacked us. It made the game complicated but the players worked hard to win a draw. My thanks go to the players. I believe they can continue to improve," Shin said.

On the other hand, he admits Australia is a pretty strong opponent compared to his squad. Australia is ranked 24th in FIFA, while Indonesia is ranked 133rd.

Now Indonesia has managed to prove its performance which has been able to overcome all these distances to win a point at home. Meanwhile, the draw was the first draw between the two countries since 2009 in an official competition.
