Passos Aims to Develop Young Goalkeepers at Persib

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Brazilian goalkeeper coach Luizinho Passos has successfully developed young talents during his time at Borneo FC Samarinda. Notable names like Nadeo Arga Winata, Muhammad Ridho, and Gianluca Pandeynuwu now shine in BRI Liga 1 2024/25 under his mentorship.
Currently at Persib Bandung, Passos continues his mission by involving academy goalkeepers in senior team training. He frequently holds coaching clinics during league breaks to monitor their progress and potential.
"We plan to have academy goalkeepers train with the first team every 1-2 weeks," Passos stated, as reported by LigaIndonesiabaru. His goal is to create a seamless connection between Persib's senior team and its academy.
So far, two young goalkeepers, Sheva Sanggasi and Fitrah Maulana, have signed professional contracts with Persib. Fitrah has even represented Indonesia's U-19 national team, showcasing the success of Passos' approach.
Despite their talent, Sheva and Fitrah have yet to earn playing time, as senior goalkeepers Teja Paku Alam and Kevin Ray Mendoza remain the primary choices. Passos believes maintaining this balance is essential for the team's success.
