Asian Cup 2023: PSSI Deputy General Believes Indonesia Can Beat Japan

SEAToday.com, Doha - PSSI Deputy General Chair Zainudin Amali believes that victory over Japan is not impossible. He said this ahead of the Indonesia vs Japan national team match in the final Group D match of the 2023 Asian Cup, Wednesday (24/1/2024).

"It's not impossible that Indonesia can beat Japan, in football anything can happen, nothing is impossible, the top rank is beaten by the bottom rank," said Zainudin Amali as reported by the official PSSI website.

The match against Japan will really determine the fate of the Indonesian national team in the 2023 Asian Cup. Victory will guarantee Asnawi et al. qualify for the top 16.

However, Japan has quality far above the Indonesian national team. Samurai Blue tops the FIFA rankings and has won the Asian Cup four times.

Facing Japan, Zainudin Amali feels that the factor that needs to be considered is communication. According to him, the defeat against Iraq occurred because communication between players was not good.

"We also conceded because the defenders' communication was not good at that time (against Iraq). I agree with coach Shin, all players have to shout to communicate," he said.
