AFF Championships: Shin Tae-yong Highlights Passing Errors in Draw Against Laos

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia's head coach, Shin Tae-yong, expressed disappointment with his team's performance following their 3-3 draw against Laos in the AFF Cup Group B match on (12/12/2024).
Speaking after the game at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Shin pointed out frequent passing mistakes as a critical issue. “Both teams gave their best effort, but our passing errors led to their goals,” he said.
The coach acknowledged that the mistakes were a significant factor in the team failing to secure three points. “It’s unfortunate, and we apologize to the supporters,” Shin added.
Despite the errors, he noted that the team had tried to execute their practiced tactics to score goals but struggled to create clear opportunities during the match.
“We couldn’t generate good chances today, which is very disappointing,” he admitted as quoted from Antara. The match also saw Marselino Ferdinan receive a red card, further complicating Indonesia’s game plan.
Shin candidly described Marselino's performance as "his worst" and acknowledged its impact on the team’s rhythm.
Looking ahead, Shin is exploring ways to strengthen the squad before their next match against Vietnam.
He expressed hope of calling up Ivar Jenner to fill Marselino's position but revealed challenges in securing the player’s release from his club. "Ivar is willing to join, but his club isn’t allowing him to leave," Shin explained.
With the result leaving Indonesia in a tough position in Group B, Shin emphasized the importance of learning from the match. He remains optimistic that the team can regroup and deliver stronger performances in the remaining fixtures of the tournament.
