SEAToday.com, Jakarta - In their encounter with Madura United at Stadion Pakansari, Cibinong, Persija Jakarta triumphed 4-1 in the BRI Liga 1 2024-25.

The victory marked a strong performance from the team in their 10th match of the season, with captain Rizky Ridho leading the charge.

The Macan Kemayoran took the lead early, with a goal from Gustavo Almeida in the 20th minute, set up by Ridho’s precise cross. Despite a brief equalizer from Madura United, with Lulinha converting a penalty in the 40th minute, Persija quickly regained the advantage.

Just before halftime, Marko Simic scored from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute, giving his team a 2-1 lead. The second half saw a more dominant performance from Persija, with Ryo Matsumura adding a powerful strike in the 71st minute.

Pedro Dias sealed the win with a goal in the dying moments of the match, scoring in the 90+6th minute. “Alhamdulillah, we achieved victory. We worked together as a team,” said Ridho, reflecting after the match, as cited by Liga Indonesia Baru.

The captain acknowledged the importance of their hard work and focused performance, especially after a less-than-ideal first half. “At first, our performance was lacking, which made Coach (Carlos Peña) upset. We evaluate ourselves at halftime, and thankfully, we secured three points,” he said.

Ridho also highlighted the significant role of Persija’s loyal supporters, the Jakmania, in their success. “This victory is thanks to The Jakmania who came out in full support. It’s been a while since we’ve played in front of them, and this win is for them,” said Ridho, who was named Man of the Match.
