Spain Wins The Women’s World Cup for The First Time

Olga Carmona's kick in the 29th minute was able to bring Spain to victory in the Women's World Cup for the first time. Of course, this is new history for the world of women's football. Spain won against England 1-0 in Sydney on Sunday (10/22).
Spain could have even missed a penalty in the second half as La Roja became the second country, after Germany, to win both the men's and women's World Cups.
Even though Spain won by one goal, England showed that their game had progressed more than before in this competition. Some of the country's most famous faces rejoiced in the team's success.
Tennis star Rafael Nadal, a 22-time grand slam winner and arguably Spain's greatest athlete, posted an Instagram story that read: “Come on, come on! Congratulations, World Champion!"
Of course, this was a final between two of the best teams in the tournament Women’s World Cup 2023, which made for an exciting and entertaining encounter.
Spain was able to monopolize the ball and even enjoyed more than 50% possession in the first half. La Roja's technical advantage, namely their good ball passing, put the Lionesses behind them.
Salma Paralluelo, the 19-year-old who came off the bench to play a crucial role in the semi-final win against Sweden, started the match and justified her selection as she proved to be a constant threat in attack.
The teenager, who was named the best young player in the tournament, is now the first player to win the Women's World Cup at the U-17, U-20, and senior levels and could certainly become one of the sport's greatest players.
Meanwhile, two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas had to sit on the bench because her performance declined in this tournament due to a serious knee injury.
In the 29th minute, the opening goal was scored, and Carmona fired his shot into the bottom right corner after building beautiful play down Spain's left wing. Lucy Bronze's attack up front had left a gaping hole in England's defense, and Spain took advantage of it.
