Ryan Garcia Expelled From World Boxing Council for Discriminatory Insults
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - American boxer Ryan Garcia was expelled by the World Boxing Council (WBC) after making discriminatory insults against the Black community and Muslims during a social media livestream.
TWBC President Mauricio Sulaimán announced the expulsion on social media platform X (@/wbcmoro) on Friday (7/5).
"Exercising my authority as president of the WBC , I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination. I fear for Ryan well being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse," quoted from the tweet.
Following this incident, Garcia apologized and expressed a desire to change for the better. He has also decided to seek treatment.
