Shin Tae-yong's Contract Extension Awaits AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 Result

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has echoed the Indonesian Football Association's (PSSI) decision on coach Shin Tae-yong's contract extension. The decision will be made after the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024, taking place in Qatar from April 15 to May 3.
"We'll essentially be following PSSI's lead. We'll see how things develop, and we're confident it will be the best course of action," stated Dito.
He acknowledged that PSSI likely has multiple factors and considerations. However, the Youth and Sports Ministry assured to continue monitoring the Garuda squad's performance under Shin Tae-yong's leadership.
This follows PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir's announcement on January 26, where he declared the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 is one of the key metrics in evaluating Shin Tae-yong's performance as the national team coach.
