SEAToday.com, Paris - The Philippines became the first Southeast Asian country to win a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo topped the men’s floor exercise final on Saturday (8/3).

Yulo managed to earn 15,000 points with his flawlessly executed routine. Defending champion Artem Dolgopyat was only able to secure the silver medal with 14,966 points. Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to Jake Jarman with 14,933 points.

Yulo's medal is the first medal scored by the Philippines in gymnastics. This gold medal is also Philippine’s second-ever gold medal in the Olympics, after Hidilyn Diaz previously won the Women’s 55 kg event in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics.
