Indonesia U-20 Eliminated from Group Stage After 1-3 Defeat to Uzbekistan

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesia U-20 national team suffered another defeat after losing 1-3 to Uzbekistan in their second Group C match of the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup at Shenzhen Youth Football Training Base Centre, China, on Sunday (2/16). This result confirms Garuda Nusantara's exit from the tournament in the group stage.
Uzbekistan secured victory through goals from Mukhammadali Urinboev, Abdugafur Haydarov, and Saidumarkhon Sadinurullayev. Indonesia had briefly equalized through Jens Raven but ultimately had to concede defeat.
With this result, Indonesia sits in third place in the standings with zero points, ahead of Yemen on goal difference. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan is in second place with six points, trailing Iran at the top on goal difference.
Uzbekistan started aggressively, pressing from the beginning. They nearly opened the scoring with a powerful shot from Abdugafur Haydarov, but the ball went wide. Indonesia responded with a long-range effort from Toni Firmansyah, but Uzbek goalkeeper Muhammad Yusuf Sobirov made the save.
The deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when a cross from Saidkhon Khamidov was met with a header by Urinboev, putting Uzbekistan ahead 1-0. However, Indonesia quickly responded just two minutes later, as Jens Raven equalized after receiving a through ball from Marselinus Ama Ola.
Uzbekistan regained the lead just two minutes into the second half. Haydarov capitalized on a pass from Daler Tukhsanov to make it 2-1. Indonesia attempted to level the score again, with Evandra Florasta taking a shot, but Sobirov managed to save it.
Uzbekistan extended their lead to 3-1 in the 63rd minute. A corner kick from Urinbaev was met with a powerful header from Sadinurullayev, which goalkeeper Ikram Algiffari could not stop.
Garuda Nusantara continued to push for a goal to narrow the gap. Arlyansyah Abdulmanan had a golden opportunity after receiving a cutback pass from Dony Tri Pamungkas, but his shot narrowly missed the target. In the dying minutes, Jens Raven had another chance inside the penalty box, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.
As the final whistle blew, Uzbekistan secured a 3-1 victory, officially eliminating Indonesia from the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup.
