Ole Romeny Officially Becomes Indonesian Citizen, Ready to Strengthen National Team

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Ole Romeny, along with Tim Geypens and Dion Markx, has officially become an Indonesian citizen after taking the oath of allegiance on Saturday (2/8) in London, England.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in London as Romeny is still actively playing for his club, Oxford United.
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir expressed gratitude for the smooth naturalization process of Romeny, who is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s attacking line under the guidance of coach Patrick Kluivert.
"Hopefully, Ole Romeny's presence in the Indonesian national team will sharpen Garuda Squad’s attacking power and bring a positive impact to the team," Erick said on Saturday (2/8).
Erick also extended his appreciation to all parties involved in supporting the naturalization process, ensuring its successful completion.
"I would like to thank the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), the President of Indonesia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and everyone who contributed to making this naturalization happen," he added.
Now officially an Indonesian citizen, Romeny has the opportunity to strengthen the Indonesian national team in the continuation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers. Garuda Squad is set to face Australia on March 20, 2025, followed by a match against Bahrain on March 25, 2025.
