Jonatan Christie Reaches Indonesia Masters 2025 Final After Defeating Wang Tzu Wei

SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Indonesian badminton player Jonatan Christie has secured a spot in the final of the BWF Super 500 Indonesia Masters 2025 after defeating Taiwan's Wang Tzu Wei.
Jonatan won in straight games, 21-18 and 24-22, in the semifinal match held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday.
In the final on Sunday (January 26), Jonatan will face the winner of the other semifinal between China's top seed Shi Yu Qi and Thailand's fourth seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
In the first game, Jonatan played aggressively from the start, but Wang managed to catch up by taking advantage of Jonatan's mistakes. Despite this, Jonatan stayed focused and led 11-8 at the interval.
After the break, Jonatan became more confident and attacked more. However, Wang fought back and leveled the score at 13-13. Jonatan remained calm and eventually won the first game 21-18.
The second game started with Wang scoring three quick points. Jonatan adjusted his strategy by playing faster and using net shots effectively, which helped him take the lead at 11-8 by the interval.
Jonatan maintained his advantage and reached match point at 20-15. Wang put up a tough fight, scoring five points in a row and forcing three deuce situations.
However, Jonatan stayed strong and secured the win with a final score of 24-22.
