Erick Thohir Confirms Positive Progress in Jairo Riedewald and Ole Romeny Naturalization Process

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has announced that the naturalization process for Royal Antwerp defender Jairo Riedewald and Oxford United striker Ole Romeny is progressing positively. The update was shared during a press conference at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office on Monday (1/13).
"I don't think coach Patrick Kluivert talked about the number (of naturalized players) yesterday, but what was conveyed was that one of the players when coach Patrick announced the joining, one of the answers was Jairo Riedewald, but it's (still) a process," said Erick Thohir.
Regarding Ole Romeny, Thohir revealed that his naturalization has advanced further, with the player already undergoing a health check and completing embassy procedures. The only remaining step, he added, is for Romeny to take the Indonesian Citizenship Oath (WNI).
Both players are expected to reinforce Indonesia’s national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with matches scheduled against Australia on Thursday (3/20) and Bahrain on Friday (3/21).
