SEAToday.com, London - Manchester United (MU) advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup after defeating Arsenal 5-3 in a penalty shootout during the third-round match at Emirates Stadium, London, on Sunday (1/12).
Arsenal tried to dominate the game from the start. However, the home team struggled to break through MU's highly disciplined defense.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after extra time. MU took the lead through Bruno Fernandes’ volley, but Arsenal equalized with a deflected shot by Gabriel.
Despite playing with a one-player advantage since the 61st minute following Diogo Dalot’s red card, Arsenal failed to capitalize on their chances during regular time and extra time.
The game was decided by penalties, with all MU players successfully converting their shots. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir emerged as the hero by saving Kai Havertz’s penalty, sealing a 5-3 victory for MU.
This win secured MU’s place in the next round, while Arsenal’s journey in the FA Cup came to an end.
