SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Indonesian national team player Marselino Ferdinan finally made his debut for Oxford United during their FA Cup third-round match against Exeter City at St James Park on Saturday (1/11).

Marselino came on as a substitute in the 89th minute, replacing attacking midfielder Siriki Dembele. The 20-year-old played for approximately 10 minutes until the match concluded in the 90+8th minute and received a yellow card in the 90+5th minute.

This long-awaited debut followed Marselino’s inclusion in Oxford's matchday squad for four consecutive Championship games in November, against Hull City, Watford, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield United.

Unfortunately, the match ended in a 3-1 defeat for Oxford United. The visitors initially took the lead with Matt Phillips scoring in the 14th minute. However, Exeter City capitalized on their home advantage, turning the game around with two goals from Demetri Mitchell in the 22nd and 40th minutes, and another from Vincent Harper in the 64th minute.

Oxford faced further challenges after Tyler Goodrham was sent off with a red card in the 81st minute, leaving them with 10 players. The loss knocked Oxford United out of the FA Cup.

Next, Gary Rowett’s side will return to Championship action against bottom-placed Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Wednesday (15/1) at 02:45 WIB.

Currently, Oxford United sits 17th in the Championship standings with 28 points from 25 matches, comprising seven wins, seven draws, and 11 defeats.
