SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association has officially announced the dismissal of Indonesia national team coach Shin Tae-yong (@shintaeyong7777). The announcement was made directly by PSSI chairman Erick Thohir at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (1/6).

The dismissal is part of PSSI's evaluation. In his official statement, Erick Thohir admitted that his party needed a leader who could better implement the strategies agreed upon by the players, better communicate and better implement the program for the Indonesian national team.

Shin Tae-yong has been the coach of the Indonesian national team since 2020 and has made various achievements for Indonesia, including leading the Indonesian national team to qualify for the last 16 of the Asian Cup for the first time in history, leading the Indonesian U-23 national team to become a semifinalist in the 2024 AFC Asian Cup, and leading Indonesia to the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification for the Asian zone.

The 54-year-old tactician's string of successes has also seen Garuda rise from 174th to 127th in the FIFA world rankings. Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong's successor is already in place but has not yet been announced by PSSI.
