Ducati and the Gresini Team won't give Marc Marquez a salary

Seatoday.com, Jakarta Eight-time world champion Marc Marquez will certainly not receive a salary from the Gresini Racing team to race in MotoGP 2024. Marc Marquez will also not be paid a penny by the Ducati factory, even though he will ride the Desmosedici GP motorbike next season. This confirmation was opened bluntly and directly by Ducati's Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabatti. "I'm sure Honda didn't just hand over Marc Marquez. But Marc agreed with the Gresini team afterwards," he said.

"I know that he spoke with his younger brother and evaluated the strength of the old Ducati motorcycle," explained the main figure in charge of handling the Ducati racer's contract. Ciabatti even confirmed that neither Gresini nor Ducati spent any money to bring Marquez from the Repsol Honda team. So the matter of terminating the contract with Repsol Honda has been completed by Marc Marquez himself, without involving his new team or manufacturer. "What I also understand is that there is no salary (paid), I also understand that he is racing on a 'free transfer'," explained the Italian man. The 66-year-old man also realized that Marquez did not come for money but rather wanted to be competitive again.

"Economic factors did not guide his choice. We should be proud because he considers the Ducati motorcycle to be the best for him to be competitive," he continued. Of course, Marquez is not without any income at all, even though he will not receive a salary from his team in the upcoming 2024 MotoGP. He still has a large income from his various sponsors and merchandise companies. It is even possible that Marquez's sponsors will later become sponsors of the Gresini team too, so that they can increase the team's income. This was of course, also a big consideration for the Italian team in accepting the 30-year-old racer.
