SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Indonesian badminton star Jonatan Christie put up a tough fight but ultimately fell to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the Indonesia Masters 2025 final on Sunday (1/26). The thrilling rubber game showdown at Istora Senayan ended with Jonatan losing 18-21, 21-17, 21-18.

Jonatan started the first game on the back foot, trailing 2-6 early on. However, he found his rhythm and closed the gap to 5-6, landing a series of sharp attacks that kept the pressure on his opponent. With momentum on his side, Jonatan turned the tables to lead 10-9 and maintained control to close the interval at 11-9.

Staying aggressive after the break, Jonatan extended his lead to 16-11 with precise shot placements and forced errors from Kunlavut. Despite a late push from the Thai shuttler, Jonatan held his nerve to clinch the first game 21-18.

The second game saw a fierce battle, with both players trading points in the early stages. Jonatan fell behind 3-7 but fought back to keep the score within reach. However, Kunlavut’s solid defense held firm, and he closed the interval at 11-7. Despite Jonatan’s best efforts, the Thai ace stayed in control and took the game 21-17, forcing a decider.

In the deciding game, Jonatan found himself under pressure, trailing 4-7 after a series of errors. The gap widened to 6-11 at the interval, with Jonatan struggling to break through Kunlavut's relentless defense.

Fighting hard to stay in the match, Jonatan clawed his way back to 12-14, but the Thai shuttler stayed composed, stretching his lead once again. Jonatan couldn’t overcome the deficit and eventually fell 18-21, handing Kunlavut the victory.

With a final score of 18-21, 21-17, 21-18, Kunlavut Vitidsarn secured the Indonesia Masters 2025 title, while Jonatan had to settle for the runner-up spot.
