STY Praises Indonesia’s Performance After Draw Against Australia

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia held Australia to a goalless draw in theri second Group C match of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday (10/9) at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta. Both teams played an open and aggressive game, but neither managed to score.
Coach STY expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance by praising the players’ efforts in both matches against Saudi Arabia and Australia. He commended their hard work and resilience during these challenging games.
“The players worked very hard and played well in both the Saudi Arabia and Australia matches. I’m pleased with how they performed and did their best,” said STY after the match, cited by PSSI
Indonesia’s strong defense led by Jay Idzes and Rizky Ridho, played a key role in holding off Australia’s attacks. Goalkeeper Maarten Paes also shone with five crucial saves, earning him the title of Man of the Match.
STY acknowledged the difficulty of the match, but highlighted his team’s mental toughness. He said that both Indonesia and Australia demonstrated equal determination despite constant pressure.
With this draw, Indonesia now sits in fourth place in Group C with two points, With their next challenges will be away matches against Bahrain on October 10 and China on October 15.
