SEAToday.com, Sumbawa - Indonesia to host the 2024 MXGP Motocross which will be located in Sumbawa (30/6) and Lombok (7/7), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This international motorbike racing event will use series 10 of the Samota Circuit and series 11 of the Selaparang Circuit.

Reporting from Antara News, the ongoing MXGP can boost the economy of the local community. As stated by the Chairman of MXGP Indonesia 2024, Zulkieflimansyah at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/2/2024).

"So in our opinion, previously there was nothing in Samota, with MXGP there is now investment certainty. So, this is the spirit that we want to convey to various regions throughout Indonesia. "If Sumbawa, with all its limitations, is able to hold a global event, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku and so on should be able to present a big event in their respective regions," he said.

Apart from that, holding a world championship like MXGP is important to improve the capabilities of Indonesian racers. The Central Executive of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI), Erwin Indriyanto, added, "The world championship is good for encouraging our athletes, there are many talented athletes here. "So these young athletes can see and if possible we are trying to get a wild card so they can participate in MXGP."

In 2024, this will be the third time that NTB has been the region trusted to hold the MXGP. The last time this championship was held was last year at the Selaparang Circuit, Lombok.
