PSSI Chairman Praises Indonesia for Qualifying for Asian Cup
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir expressed his gratitude to all players, coaches, officials, and PSSI administrators for the recent successes of the Indonesian national teams. The U17, U20, and senior national teams have all qualified for their Asian Cups.
The U17 national team secured their spot in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025 by finishing as one of the top five runners-up in the qualifying round. The U20 national team qualified for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 after topping Group F, while the senior national team has advanced to the third round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers, ensuring their participation in the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
Looking at the performance of the U23 national team, which reached the semifinals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2025, he believes that other age-group teams have the potential to achieve similar success.
Erick Thohir also praised the work of national team coaches Indra Sjafri and Nova Arianto.
"The quality of our coaches is improving. Coach Indra and Nova have proven (their abilities). There is a transfer of knowledge from STY to Coach Nova, who was once his assistant. Nova was also once Indra's assistant coach. This is exactly what we expect from experienced coaches," Thohir said.
