SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Piala Asia U-23 2024 telah memasuki semifinal. Bukan hanya gelar, empat tim tersisa bersaing memperebutkan tiket ke Olimpiade Paris 2024.
Indonesia menjadi salah satu negara yang mencapai semifinal. Skuad Garuda Muda melakukannya dengan menaklukkan Korea Selatan 11-10 (2-2) melalui adu penalti pada perempat final di Stadion Abdullah bin Khalifa, Jumat, 26 April 2024 dini hari WIB.
Selain Indonesia, ketiga tim lain yang masuk semifinal, yakni Uzbekistan, Jepang, dan Irak. Tidak seperti Indonesia yang berstatus debutan di Piala Asia U-23, trio itu adalah mantan juara turnamen.
Di perempat final, Jepang mengatasi perlawanan tuan rumah Qatar yang harus bermain 10 orang hingga perpanjangan waktu. Uzbekistan tampil solid untuk menyisihkan Arab Saudi. Irak juga tidak kerepotan meredam perlawanan Vietnam.
Tiga tim terbaik dari Piala Asia U-23 2024 bakal lolos ke Olimpiade 2024 di Paris. Sementara tim keempat masih berpeluang mendapatkan tiket, asalkan menaklukkan Guinea pada play-off konfederasi.
