Fajar/Rian Defeated in Final, Malaysia Secures Indonesia Masters 2025
SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Indonesia’s men’s doubles duo, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, fell short in the final of the Indonesia Masters 2025, Sunday (1/26).
Fajar/Rian had to concede defeat in straight games, 11-21, 19-21, to Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee in a thrilling battle at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
The first game saw Fajar/Rian keeping pace early, leveling the score at 6-6. However, the Malaysian duo turned up the heat, pulling away to take an 11-8 lead at the interval.
After the break, Fajar/Rian struggled to break through Malaysia’s solid defense and found themselves trailing 9-15. Despite efforts to stage a comeback, the Indonesian pair couldn't close the gap, allowing Man/Tee to wrap up the first game 21-11.
The second game was a neck-and-neck contest, with both pairs trading points in an intense rally, reaching 9-9.
Fajar/Rian pushed hard, closing in at 14-15, and even managed to equalize at 18-18, raising hopes for a comeback. But a costly net error allowed Malaysia to regain control and close out the match with a 21-19 victory.
Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee sealed the title with a 2-0 win, leaving Fajar/Rian to settle as runners-up in the Indonesia Masters 2025.
