Renovation Completed, Public Works Minister Ensures Kanjuruhan Stadium Meets FIFA Standards

SEAToday.com, Malang - Public Works (PU) Minister Dody Hanggodo said renovation of Kanjuruhan Stadium in East Java, had been completed in its entirety on Saturday (1/18). He also ensured that all facilities have met FIFA standards.
Minister Dody explained that Kanjuruhan Stadium had been reviewed directly by FIFA and PSSI while the renovation process was still ongoing. He also feels optimistic that this stadium can be an option for organising international football matches.
“It has been checked by FIFA and of course if FIFA has (checked), then PSSI has also (checked). The current standards are in accordance with the provisions of FIFA,” he said.
This stadium renovation has been running since September 2023. After this renovation, Kanjuruhan Stadium has gone through tests and pocketed the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certificate and is considered earthquake resistant.
“It will be feasible for the next 30-40 years,” said minister Dody.
Meanwhile, Head of the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Airyn Saputri Harahap said the implementation of the Kanjuruhan Stadium renovation considered the provisions of FIFA, one of which concerned the safety aspects for the audience.
“The evacuation route already exists, can be seen as in the photo in front. In fact, the evacuation standard from us to get out of the stadium is seven minutes,” he said.
Not only that, Kanjuruhan Stadium also provides special seats for people with disabilities with a capacity of 16 person.
He added that the Kanjuruhan tragedy that occurred on October 1, 2022 was an important lesson for many parties, so that they always prioritize the safety of the community.
