SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has scheduled the announcement of the new Indonesian national team coach who replaced Shin Tae-yong on Sunday, January 12.

PSSI Chairman, Erick Thohir, revealed that the Dutch coach is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Saturday night, January 11. “We will hold a press conference on January 12 at 16.00. Media colleagues can directly ask the coach during the event,” Erick said in a press conference at Menara Danareksa, Jakarta, Monday.

After being introduced to the public, the new coach will meet with Indonesian national team players who play in the Indonesian League in the evening.

Other agenda items include meetings with members of the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco), the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), and a visit to the facilities used by the Garuda team. Erick emphasized that the coach will work with a highly qualified support team to improve the team's performance.

The change of coach, according to Erick, is aimed at supporting Indonesia's dream of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

When asked about his confidence in the new coach, Erick explained that the success of the national team depends on three main things: a solid coaching program, good coaching quality, and maximum player performance. “All three must go hand in hand,” he concluded.
