SEAToday.com, Bangkok - Vietnam clinched the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 title after defeating Thailand 3-2 in the second leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, on Sunday (1/5). The victory secured Vietnam a 5-3 aggregate win, following a 2-1 triumph in the first leg, and marked their third AFF Cup title after previous successes in 2008 and 2018.

The match began with Vietnam taking an early lead in the 8th minute through a stunning free kick by Pham Tuan Hai. Thailand responded in the 28th minute, leveling the score with a goal from Ben Davis.

In the second half, Thailand surged ahead with a goal from Supachok Sarachat in the 64th minute. Vietnam leveled the score again in the 82nd minute through an own goal by Pansa Hemviboon. Nguyen Hai Long then secured Vietnam’s victory with a decisive goal in the 90th minute.

With this triumph, Vietnam reaffirmed its status as one of ASEAN’s football powerhouses, adding another historic milestone to their achievements in the region.
