Indonesia Wins Overall Champion at 20th Maia International Karate Open (MIKO) in Portugal

SEAToday.com, Maia - The Indonesian Karate team, consisting of 17 elementary, junior high, and high school students, won the overall championship in the 20th Maia International Karate Open (MIKO), held in Maia, Portugal, on December 2–3. Indonesia successfully brought home 10 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. In the competition, the Indonesian Karate team competed with 791 participants from 93 other country teams to win the gold medals.

The students who were sent to this championship were the champions of the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) Karate Sport in 2023 who had participated in coaching two times. The students have been trained by the National Achievement Center, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) in cooperation with the Executive Board of the Indonesian Karate-do Forum (PB FORKI).
