SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Ketua Umum PSSI, Erick Thohir akan melakukan evaluasi usai tim nasional Indonesia gagal melaju ke babak semifinal Piala AFF 2024.

"Kalau ditanya, saya maunya menang lawan Myanmar, menang lawan Laos, dan menang lawan Filipina. Kalau ada kalah lawan Vietnam ya wajar tim muda. Kalau nanti kita sudah berikan terbaik hingga semifinal lalu kalah, tidak apa-apa tapi kita sudah berjuang beri terbaik," kata Ketua Umum PSSI, Erick Thohir dalam keterangannya, Sabtu, 21 Desember 2024.

Ia melanjutkan, "Kan sejak awal saya sudah bilang di AFF ini kita targetnya berikan yang terbaik. Kalau bicara berikan yang terbaik, harusnya dengan pelatih dan pemain ini kita harusnya bisa minimal lolos semifinal Piala AFF. Jadi di sisi ini tentu PSSI akan lakukan evaluasi."

Skuad Garuda takluk dari Filipina 0-1 pada laga pamungkas Grup B Piala AFF 2024 di Stadion Manahan, Solo, Jawa Tengah, Sabtu, 21 Desember 2024. Gol semata wayang Filipina dicetak Kristensen melalui titik putih pada menit ke-63.

Erick menegaskan bahwa komposisi pemain yang berada di skuad tim Garuda yang mayoritas berusia 22 tahun ini memang diproyeksikan untuk bersaing di SEA Games 2025.

Namun, dengan kegagalan Indonesia melaju di semifinal Piala AFF 2024 kali ini menjadi catatan penting mengingat di ajang SEA Games nantinya persaingan dari negara-negara se-Asia Tenggara juga menunjukkan kekuatan yang sama seperti di kompetisi ini.

"Timnas ini diproyeksikan ke SEA Games 2025, sekaligus untuk mempertahankan medali emas. Karena tidak berhasil ke semifinal ajang ini yang kurang lebih persaingannya sama dengan SEA Games nanti, artinya, banyak hal harus segera dibenahi. Waktunya masih cukup. Setahun lagi. Jadi berbenahlah, terutama pelatih juga harus evaluasi," terang Erick.
