SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga Dito Ariotedjo memastikan keamanan tim nasional Bahrain jika berlaga melawan Indonesia di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, dalam laga lanjutan kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026.
"Jadi kalau ada statement pihak Bahrain mengatakan tidak aman di Indonesia, kami pastikan tidak ada potensi ancaman keamanan yang bisa membahayakan tim Bahrain," tegas Dito di Istana Kepresidenan Jakarta, Senin (21/10).
Ia menegaskan bahwa seharusnya tidak ada alasan bagi tim Bahrain untuk menolak bermain di Indonesia. Bahkan, FIFA sudah mengatakan bahwa pertandingan tetap harus dilaksanakan di Indonesia.
"FIFA sudah mengatakan pertandingan tetap di Indonesia. Harus di Indonesia. Kalau tidak, berarti menang WO," ujarnya.
Seperti diketahui, asosiasi sepak bola Bahrain sebelumnya telah mengajukan pemindahan venue pertandingan kualfikasi Piala Dunia 2026 melawan Indonesia, yang harus dilaksanakan di Indonesia pada Maret 2025 mendatang, menjadi ke negara lain.
Alasan pengajuan ini dilakukan yaitu karena tim Bahrain takut atas keselamatan saat berlaga di Indonesia, setelah pada laga sebelumnya mereka menuai hujatan akibat laga yang harus berakhir imbang 2-2 melawan Indonesia dinilai kontroversial.
