Woodball Indonesia Raih Tiga Medali di Taiwan Open 2024

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Tim woodball Indonesia meraih tiga medali yakni satu emas, satu perak, dan satu perunggu pada Taiwan Open International Championship 2024 di Beitun Wooden Course, Taichung City.

Medali emas diraih oleh Ariska Untung dan Surya Aditya yang turun di nomor Men’s Double Stroke dan perunggu diraih oleh Margo Nugraha dan Komang Sumiasa. Sedangkan medali perak diraih Siti Masithah dan Febriyanti di Women’s Double Stroke.

Di sisi lain, Surya Aditya menempati peringat keempat di nomor Single Stroke Men. Di nomor putri, Febriyanti juga menempati peringkat empat Single Stroke Women dan Siti Masithah yang finis di posisi kedelapan.

Lewat prestasi ini, Ketua Umum IWbA Aang Sunadji mengatakan Indonesia bermetamorfosis menjadi negara yang memiliki perkembangan cukup pesat untuk olahraga woodball.

Ia pun optimistis woodball bisa meningkatkan prestasi dan memperkuat pondasi sebagai cabang olahraga di dalam maupun luar negeri.

“Woodball Indonesia kian meningkat prestasinya dikarenakan banyak pihak yang mendukung dari berbagai sektor, dari pemerintah seperti Kementerian Pemuda dan Olahraga serta pihak swasta ikut mendukung," ujar Aang.

"Salah satunya seragam para atlet dan pelatih karya anak bangsa seperti Mills Sport. Termasuk pengurus provinsi yang mencetak atlet terbaik untuk Indonesia,” lanjutnya.

Sementara itu, di sela-sela Taiwan Open juga digelar General Assembly Internasional Woodball Federation (IWbF).

Salah satu pembahasan adalah untuk mengukuhkan posisi woodball sebagai cabang olahraga yang diakui di internasional, sehingga bisa dimainkan di multicabang olahraga dunia.

Untuk pertama kalinya, woodball akan diperlombakan di SEA Games. Hal ini tentu akan berimbas kepada perjalanan woodball Indonesia di mata dunia.
