Indonesia Bids to Host 2031 AFC Asian Cup

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia officially submitted its bid to host the 2031 AFC Asian Cup as a sole organizer, stated PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir on (12/10/2024). This marks a significant step for Indonesian football on the international stage.
"Indonesia has submitted its individual bid to host the 2031 Asian Cup," Erick announced in Jakarta as quoted form Antara. The proposal, co-signed by PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi, has been sent to the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Reflecting on its co-hosting role in the 2007 Asian Cup with three other Southeast Asian nations, Indonesia now aspires to take full responsibility for the tournament. "This time, we aim to be the sole organizer," Erick emphasized.
With prior experience hosting major events like the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Indonesia's confidence in its capabilities is bolstered. Erick highlighted the nation's readiness, citing compliant facilities and experienced organizing committees.
“From stadium standards to operational expertise, we are fully prepared,” he stated. If successful, the bid will reaffirm Indonesia’s place in global football.
