Shi Yu Qi Geser Viktor Axelsen, Jadi Pebulu Tangkis Tunggal Putra Nomor Satu Dunia
SEAToday.com, Kuala Lumpur-Pebulu tangkis tunggal putra asal Tiongkok Shi Yu Qi menggeser posisi pebulu tangkis Denmark Viktor Axelsen setelah menjuarai sejumlah turnamen, di antaranya adalah French Open, Singapore Open, dan Indonesia Open.
Melalui pencapaiannya, Shi mengumpulkan 102.415 poin dari 18 turnamen. Sementara, Axelsen mengekor di peringkat kedua dengan selisih 5.945 poin.
“Menjadi (pebulu tangkis) nomor satu dunia sangat berarti bagi saya dan saya bangga. (Nanti) saat saya melihat kembali ke momen ini, ini akan menjadi sesuatu yang berarti, namun, sekarang saya lebih fokus kepada setiap pertandingan dan turnamen,” ungkap Shi dalam keterangan yang dirilis BWF, Rabu (12/6).
