SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Tunggal putra Tiongkok Shi Yu Qi meraih gelar juara di Indonesia Open 2024, Minggu (9/6/2024). Kemenangan ini mengakhiri penantian 35 tahun Tiongkok untuk gelar juara di sektor tunggal putra Indonesia Open.
Pebulu tangkis berusia 28 tahun tersebut menang dengan skor 21-9, 12-21, 21-14 melawan Adern Antonsen dari Denmark.
Xiong Guobao menjadi pebulu tangkis asal Tiongkok terakhir yang meraih gelar juara tunggal putra, dengan kemenangan di tahun 1989.
Shi Yu Qi menyebutkan, Indonesia Open 2024 merupakan salah satu persiapannya dalam menyambut Olimpiade Paris 2024. Dengan gelar juara di Indonesia Open, kepercayaan dirinya bertambah dalam melangkah di Olimpiade.
