Pelatih Shin Tae-Yong dinilai cukup berhasil menerapkan strategi permainan kolektif. Ini terlihat dari penguasaan bola di timnas Indonesia dengan operan pendek dari kaki ke kaki untuk meredam kecepatan para pemain Korea Selatan.
Selain itu, Indonesia lebih gigih dalam upaya menjebol gawang lawan meskipun dinilai agresif dengan 20 kali pelanggaran. Sedangkan para pemain Korsel melakukan 15 kali pelanggaran.
Namun, Indonesia hanya menerima dua kartu kuning dibandingkan Korea Selatan yang menerima tiga kartu kuning dan satu kartu merah.
