SEAToday.com, Zurich-FIFA membatalkan pertandingan kualifikasi Grup B zona Asia Piala Dunia 2026 antara Korea Utara dengan Jepang di Pyongyang yang dijadwalkan pada Selasa (26/3).
FIFA mengungkap tidak akan memindahkan jadwal pertandingan karena tidak ada tanggal lain di kalender FIFA untuk melakukan pertandingan susulan. Selain itu, FIFA juga menilai Korea Utara tidak mampu menyediakan tempat alternatif untuk bertanding melawan Jepang.
Dilansir dari AP News, Komite Disiplin FIFA telah memberikan penalti terhadap Korea Utara berupa kekalahan melawan Jepang dengan penetapan skor 3-0 tanpa pertandingan fisik.
Pertandingan kualifikasi sebelumnya dilaksanakan di Jepang dan dimenangkan oleh Jepang dengan perolehan skor 1-0. Sedangkan Korea Utara meraih satu kemenangan di tiga laga away kualifikasi Grup B zona Asia Piala Dunia 2026.
