Olimpiade Paris 2024 Catat Sejarah Baru dengan Capai Kesetaraan Gender Penuh
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Gelaran Olimpiade Paris 2024 mencatatkan rekor baru dengan mencapai kesetaraan gender penuh pertama sepanjang sejarah. Olimpiade ini memiliki alokasi yang sama antara 50 persen atlet pria dan 50 persen atlet wanita yang bertanding. Indonesia sendiri meloloskan 29 atlet dengan rincian 13 atlet perempuan dan 16 atlet laki-laki dari 12 cabang olahraga.
Dilansir Olympics.com, jumlah atlet wanita meningkat pesat sejak pertama kali mengikuti Olimpiade 1900. Hingga pada Olimpiade Tokyo 2020, persentase atlet wanita mencapai 48 persen.
Peningkatan jumlah atlet wanita hingga mencapai kesetaraan gender penuh di Olimpiade Paris 2024 ini tak lepas dari upaya Komite Olimpiade Internasional (IOC) selama 25 tahun terakhir yang bekerja sama dengan setiap Komite Olimpiade Nasional (NOC) dan federasi internasional. Salah satunya yakni, menambah pertandingan ganda atau tim campuran di beberapa cabang olahraga untuk meningkatkan kesadaran terkait kesetaraan gender.
