Foto yang diambil oleh fotografer Jerome Brouillet dari Agence France-Presse, Senin (29/7) tersebut menampilkan Medina seperti 'terbang' di udara, dengan tangan terangkat dan jari telunjuk menunjuk ke langit dan papan selancarnya yang seolah-olah melayang di belakangnya.
Foto tersebut diambil di Teahupo'o, Pulau Tahiti, Polinesia Prancis, tempat kompetisi selancar Olimpiade Paris berlangsung pada babak ketiga. Medina mencetak skor 9,9, rekor tertinggi untuk satu gelombang dalam sejarah Olimpiade.
