Indonesia Juara Umum di Maia International Karate Open (MIKO) ke-20 di Portugal
SEAToday.com, Maia - Tim Karate Indonesia yang terdiri dari 17 pelajar jenjang SD, SMP, dan SMA berhasil meraih juara umum di ajang Maia International Karate Open (MIKO) ke-20 yang diselenggarakan di Maia, Portugal, pada 2-3 Desember 2023. Indonesia sukses membawa 10 medali emas, 2 medali perak, dan 4 medali perunggu. Dalam kompetisi tersebut, tim Karate Indonesia bersaing dengan 791 peserta dari 93 tim negara lain untuk memperebutkan medali emas.
Para siswa yang diberangkatkan adalah para juara Olimpiade Olahraga Siswa Nasional (O2SN) cabang olahraga karate tahun 2023. Para siswa tersebut mendapatkan pembinaan yang difasilitasi oleh Pusat Prestasi Nasional, Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbud Ristek), bekerja sama dengan Pengurus Besar Forum Karate-do Indonesia (PB FORKI).
