SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Barcelona put on an impressive display with a commanding 7-1 victory over Valencia in their La Liga clash at Camp Nou in the early hours of Monday, local time.
This outstanding result serves as a turning point for Hansi Flick's squad, who had previously managed just one win in their last eight domestic league matches.
Fermin Lopez shone brightly, scoring twice in the first half, while Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha also found the net, giving Blaugrana a 5-0 lead before halftime.
In the second half, Robert Lewandowski extended Barcelona's lead, followed by an own goal from Valencia defender Cesar Tarrega. The visitors could only respond with a consolation goal from Hugo Duro.
Barcelona came out firing from the start, with Frenkie de Jong opening the scoring in the third minute after converting a cross from Lamine Yamal. Seven minutes later, Ferran Torres doubled the lead with a clinical finish from Alejandro Balde's assist.
Barcelona's third goal came in the 14th minute through Raphinha, who calmly dribbled past goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili before netting his 12th goal of the season.
Fermin Lopez added the fourth goal after receiving a long pass from Pau Cubarsi. Initially ruled offside, the goal was later confirmed after a VAR review. Lopez struck again just before halftime, volleying in a rebound after Raphinha’s shot hit the post.
Valencia, missing key defender Cristhian Mosquera due to suspension, struggled to cope with Barcelona's relentless attacks. Hugo Duro’s goal early in the second half briefly gave the visitors hope, but the introduction of Robert Lewandowski further bolstered the home side’s attack.
The Polish striker scored his 17th goal of the season after an assist from Fermin Lopez, before Valencia's misery was compounded by an own goal from Cesar Tarrega under pressure from Ferran Torres.
With this victory, Barcelona remain in third place in the La Liga standings, trailing league leaders Real Madrid by seven points and three points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Valencia find themselves deeper in trouble, sitting in 19th place in the relegation zone and needing four points to climb out of danger.
